Hey there fellow poker players,

My name is Jory, and I just recently decided to join this site in hopes to improve my tournament play. I would like to start off by telling a little bit about my background in poker, and why I have decided to take my game to the next level. I have always been intrigued by games that require a lot of attention to strategy. Games like chess, checkers, and risk are the type of games that I enjoyed playing when I was younger and still enjoy to this day. Chess in particular was a game that I believe has helped me in the game of poker. I didn't start playing poker until just a few years ago. I never played a poker tournament until slightly less than a year ago. After almost a year now, I hav played in around 40-50 live tourneys. With that being said, even with not having tons of years of experience I have played with alot of solid poker players and read and learned alot of valuable poker strategy to honestly say that I am a decent player. I do however feel that theres still alot I need to learn. I know there's leaks in my game, and tha'ts one of the reasons i'm here. Since I have been playing poker for money, I have done fairly well with live tournaments. I feel that I am a much stronger at playing tournaments versus playing in cash games. Eventually, I'd like to improve my cash games play, but ultimately my goal is to master the art of tournament poker strategy first. Since I'm still the new guy, is there any recommendations from anyone here on what I should be watching first on this site?

I'd recommend starting with TPE University. It helps narrow down the videos by subject and can let you focus on particular areas you think are important.

Howdy Jory…Yep I would second this…although it is more a case of “do as I say not as I do”, because although I started out with the intention of going through the whole course, somewhere along the line I fell in love with Andrew Brokos and we have never looked back…I'm kidding-sort of. For the last goodness knows how long I have been solely occupied at TPE watching his videos…I say watching but that really doesn't do it justice…studying his videos is more like it. A single 40 minute vid can take me 3 or 4 hours by the time I'm through with it. But I had a good idea of what areas I needed to concentrate on specifically. The TPE Uni. course was I believe conceived with guys like you in mind. Best of luck and welcome.
