Dearest TPE Nation,

I trust this finds you all in good health. I am a new member to TPE and have found the resources and insights provided by this network of upstanding players to be resourceful beyond measure. I thank you in advance for the future results you will assist me with.

I have only recently started the University videos and using a HUD (fragile, naive mind blown!). While viewing BigDog’s Sunday million week 2 review (congrats on the score dude!) he mentioned that on Pokerstars he feels that 9‘s run really well. I chuckled. Needless to say 9’s cracked kings by rivering the straight. I chuckled.

It got me thinking about “Lucky” hands and if I had any. Seeing as I have recently gained super easy access to a myriad of my hand histories I thought I would use this opportunity to learn my way around Pokertracker. I have a really small sample size of less than 3k so obviously variance has had a big say but I think the results are still a little engaging.

I have been playing micro stakes tourney’s 0.55-5.5 buy-in. You’ll see some strange stuff when you get to showdown at these stakes. It’s not atypical in a multiway pot on a 3,7,8,Q,K rainbow runout for one guy to show up with quads and the other throwing down the original signed copy of the declaration of independence and a twinkie. I have filtered these out and just tried to focus on some pretty standard showdown cards in a turbo MTT.

So the results at showdown are as follows: Win/Draw/lose

Hero has AK vs AQ – 19 times:   W:3   D:4   L:12

Hero has AQ vs AK – 8 times:   W:1   D:1   L:6

Hero has AK vs A6 – 5 times:   W:0   D:0   L:5

Hero has A10 vs AJ – 5 times: W:4   D:0   L:1

Hero has KK vs 55 – 3 times:   W:0   D:0   L:3

Hero has J9 vs AA –  3 times: W:3   D:0   L:0

Hero has 72 vs AA – 1 time:    W:1    D:0    L:0

I am no statistician but from these results I can conjure up that Anna Kournikova is not attracted to me in the slightest (maybe I am too clingy to her), A/6 and 5’s be the devil’s hands and any time I have J/9 or 72 from any position I should always tool out…. Everytime.

So after all that waffle I essentially just wanted to say what’s up to you guys and gals and wanted to see if you had any “Lucky” hands that you feel perform way out of the norm for you.

Disclaimer –

This musing is just for a little fun and discussion. I won’t be investing in Romanian rabbit feet and jade horseshoe’s.  Well maybe not just yet anyway. I also apologise if this is posted in the wrong place, don’t really know the order of things just yet.

Warm regards,
