Greetings ladies and gentleman!

My name is Michael Chin. I’m new to the site and but not new to poker. Tournament Poker Edge was mentioned and recommended on a Twitch stream I was watching. So I thought I give it a try. I’ve been an off and on recreational player for years since college. I was in and out of Poker throughout the years. In 2005 I attended my first satellite at the WPT @Foxwoods. I was kinda luck that I happened to be there when it was there. I was originally visiting my grandfather in Boston who loves to go to Foxwoods to play 7-card stud so we came down there and WPT happened to be there that week. So I hopped on a satellite and enjoyed the rush, the thrill, and was instantly hooked. When I came back home after all the traveling from my job at the time, I watched a lot more poker on TV and read up on several books. Started playing in home games with friends and coworkers. That lasted a few years until family happened, job, and things started shifting another direction. More on that later.

It’s now 2015, May I started back up MUCH more consistently. Started picking my books and started reading again. I started watching more tourneys on youtube and several channels, even attended the free Poker School Online at PokerStars, and started playing online tourneys (nothing major) and mostly cash games on Americas Card Room. I only have time late at night to play and study poker usually between 10PM-3AM or sometimes 4AM. Sleep is for the weak lol! I’ve been up, but mostly down. I would go on these winning streaks but then take on these major downswings to where I recently blew out my $1500~ bankroll. So now I’m here as I truly want to pick up poker on a more serious level and play! I’m not bad, but I’m not that good either and I know I can be good if not great; and great is where I want to be. I did recently attend the WPT @Choctaw this year. I was there with a friend and as luck would have it yet again it was there! Played for two days different flights; didn’t get too far but it was a blast to play and learn. I feel 2016 will be my year of growth with poker. I just need more guidance and help; as I’m willing to learn. I have a shelf of knowledge, but it’s not enough. I need a visual. I need to learn to read the players better, and read their ranges better, play in better spots.

I’ll be 40 years old next year so I want poker to be the game for the rest of my life! I’ve been married to my wonderful wife of 11 years. We’ve been together for nearly 15 years now. I have a handsome 7 year old son and a soon to be 4 year old beautiful daughter. We have a household full of pets (crazy family). As far as work goes, I’ve been an operations manager in different industries over the last 5 years with a diverse background of skills. I am currently a team manager at Apple, Inc. working from home. I’m also a Futures and Forex trader I do as supplemental, wealth and retirement income. I’m an Ip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu instructor and Texas representative for Grand Master Samuel Kwok, teaching privately out of my back training room. I’ve traveled with my Sifu/Master to various locations in the USA and the world attending seminars. I was recently nominated for a martial arts achievement award in which I will attend the hall of honors in late January 2016 at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. I love music and writing. I especially love various styles of EDM and produce my own sounds/tracks as a hobby from time to time.

I hope to travel some next year if work allows me the time so I can jump on the WSOP circuit and play; take a break from the marital arts world. I already planned on going to WSOP @ Choctaw as well as Bally’s Las Vegas in 2016. So I need all the help I can get breaking into the tourney world more!

So hello TPE family!

Michael

Welcome. I’ll also be 40 next year. If you ever visit HQ look me up, and I’ll buy you a coffee. I live about 8 miles from the spaceship-in-progress.

Thanks KillingBird! Just a question, does any TPE staff do any online tourneys to watch live on Twitch or anything similar?

mykhalzyruskane,

Good reads man, but you better get crackin’. Nobody over the age of 50 will win the WSOP Main Event again – two is not a winner, three nobody remembers.
