Hello TPE – I’ve been lurking on the forums for a little while now but would like to start being more interactive and what better way to kick things off than with a little introduction!

I currently live in Charlotte, NC with my wife and two kids (2 yr old daughter and 3 mo old son). My day job is as a pediatric nurse at a local children’s hospital.

I’ve been playing poker as a hobby for about a year now. Started out playing cash games online but over the past couple of months have pretty much exclusively played SNGs and tourneys on Bovada. Its been awesome to have TPE as a resource as I delve into MTT strategy.

Some fun facts…
-I sold my magic collection to fund my new poker hobby. Used to be very involved in the magic community and performed / competed at various conventions. Was sad to sell everything but it was time for a new hobby!
-My other current hobby is teaching a weekly folk dance class. If you’re ever in the area, check us out …..sdance.com .

Random question: I like to watch TPE videos on my iPad during breaks at work. What is the best video player for the iPad that will bookmark where I stop the video?

I also start grad school in a couple of weeks for my masters in nursing informatics. So my plate will be quite full in 2014! But I look forward to learning from you all and hopefully sharing a thing or two along the way…

Jason

Nice to have you.  I too play Magic, but I suck at it, well I don't suck but my match win rate is like 51%.  For some reason, I am a much better poker player than Magic player.  This may seem ironic, but I think Magic has a much stronger luck component than poker, I think a lot of people would guess the opposite is true.  Anyway, good luck!

Thanks wizardzur. I should have clarified I was actually talking about performing as a magician. I had a pretty extensive collection of books and tricks but they had been collecting dust for a while. But that’s cool that you’ve played magic…I had several friends who were involved but never got into it myself.

Lol my mistake…yes I think a lot of people transition from Magic to poker David Williams and Anton Morgenstern specifically.  Both are turn based strategy games with a statistical component.
