Hey guys thought i'd make my first post as an introduction smile

My name is Daniel and i'm from Australia. I've been playing poker for about 8 years now recreationally, not really focusing on a specific format of poker, just dabbling in cash, sng's and tourneys. Now i am dedicating my game to MTT's for several reasons: I feel like its my best game, i enjoy it the most, and i can deal with the long runs of not making a big score, as i have a full time job, so i'm not dependent on the money.

I'm looking foward to contributing to the forum, making some new poker buddies to discuss strategy etc, and improving my game to hopefully bink some big tourneys!!

I have two friends who live in Victoria! I've never been, but they're begging me to come down there sometime. Welcome to TPE!

Yeah i was reading over the online home games down under thread and saw you won the am event 1 seat, congrats!! I'm gonna try and make it up for the 888pl main event, see how work is. I actually used to work for the 888pl for about 2 years as a tournament director smile

Hi Guys,

Another new Aussie here. Living down in Tassie.

I'm new to poker this year. Started grinding the micros on Stars but have found I enjoy MTTs a lot more – even though I'm yet to have any success. Found TPE and have loved the videos I've watched so far – really hoping I can translate that into a better performance at the tables.

Cheers,

FeralAce.

Well I’m another Aussie but prob the only one from WA by the sound of it. Was born in Tassie though. I’m just starting to make a small profit after joining TPE. Mostly play micro MTT’s and sng’s. Was playing lots on Stars but now mostly 888 and Lock coz they have smaller fields so it doesn’t take all night.
Been wearing the TPE shirt to the APL and Cas a few times so hopefully get some more WA guys on here:)

I play only on Stars and have been wondering if giving the likes of 888 a go might reduce variance due to lower field sizes. What size buy ins have you been playing on 888 and how have you found the quality of oppostion there?

Yep 888 is great and I got used to the software very quickly. The fields are very very soft and it's a great confidence booster if you have been playing on stars and not cashing much.  Smaller fields are great so you can build a bankroll fast and don't spend hours playing if you don't have lots of time.  There's heaps of micro mtt's and I play mostly the $2 ($500 guaranteed) to the $11 ($900 guaranteed) ones.  The SNG's are very soft too but hard to get a game in the turbo's coz everyone's playing the DON's.  The best thing is that you can get through a tourney in about half the time as on Stars and still cash decent enough for the final table. You do get decent players sometimes when getting deep as well so you can make some good plays then. 888 is very Aussie friendly as well.

Lock is also very soft and small fields (now that they have moved from Merge we can play there from Aus.) There aren't many smaller buy in tourneys though in my time zone but if I can get into a $5-$12 one I'll prob FT more often than not.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great rundown. I'll aim to set myself up on 888 in the next month or so.
