I'm new to the site and would like to get involved with other US players. I'm a recreational player, but if I am going to continue playing I would like to improve my learning and training habits. I ran up a decent low stakes bovada bankroll but after taking some off as profit followed by some terrible BR management I busted and decided to take a break and re-group.
My forum name is a nickname that I was given by a group of guys I went to highschool with who invited me to play with some of their fraternity brothers in college. I wasn't great, but they were worse. Not sure what their rationale for the nickname was (they were pretty drunk during most sessions) but it helped my table image so I'll stick with it.
Some non-strategy advice that I am interested in gaining from this community is scheduling tips for training/playing. I am recently married and I mostly play after dinner on my laptop on the couch while the wife works on her dissertation on her laptop and the tv is on in the background. I often get up to do random tasks while playing (get us water, clean up after dinner, etc.). This obviously isn't ideal for paying close attention to tables and playing my best. I am thinking that setting and sticking to a routine schedule would be helpful. If the hobby actually becomes profitable, that will obviously help my case for establishing a dedicated block of time or # of hours to play each week.
I'm considering depositing on Carbon, but will likely just stick with Bovada for now. However, I am open to recommendations for which platform is preferred between the two.
I do not consider myself a very strong player, so for now the majority of knowledge transfer is going to be one-directional, but I look forward to continuing to lurk the forums and begin reviewing videos.
Good Luck All,
Wes
