Hello TPE,

I’m an “old” grinder that hit his stride 2010-2011. Since BF I have largely focused on other things and not spent much time on poker.

I have always gone back and forth on whether or not poker is a worthy time investment for me. Seeing so many people step away from the game, and reading so much negativity on places like 2+2, it doesn’t sound super smart for a guy who isn’t sure if he just ran good in 2010 to keep playing.

On the other hand, I have been immensely challenged to find a source of flexible income. My career goals outside of poker also have a high degree of flexibility and…variance. While coupling that career with another career of potential instability doesn’t sound brilliant, I’ve realized that I’d be hard pressed to find something more flexible. Plus, I have spent a lot of time over the years learning poker, and I think it is smart to capitalize on what I’ve already invested.

All that…plus the current games available to US players seem quite soft, and the potential of building a roll seems decent.

My ultimate poker goal is to build a roll that allows me to play soft high stakes cash games and the occasional MTT. Things like the 5-10 in LA, or elsewhere.

Most of my earlier poker success came from MTTs, but I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to improve my cash game.

Anyway, I have a pretty small roll online right now, but have a lot of free time to grind and learn! Also, I’ve heard a lot of great things about the TPE community, and I’m looking forward to connecting with you all.

Cheers,

GunnJD
