Hi,

I just rejoined after something something like two years away (maybe more?) and wanted to drop in and say hello!

I’m living in Vancouver, BC these days and have been mostly playing live cash at the new Parq Casino here. With an active 6-year-old I just haven’t been clearing time to playing tournaments. Plus I love playing live and always play higher stakes at live cash, and winning more often and with less frustration is pretty fun too 😉

About 5 months ago I decided to drop a $100 on PartyPoker, just for fun, and because I recalled the field sizes making it possible to play after work and still get to bed before 1am. I started playing the $5.50s and have worked my way up to a mix of $11s and $22s. It has been going pretty well considering I only play 2 tables at once and ~2-6 tourneys per session. Chart after ~230: https://www.sharkscope.com/#Player-Statistics//networks/PartyPoker/players/MovieFX

My “studying” has been mostly Thinking Poker podcasts and books (Thanks Andrew & Nate! Love the Weekend Warrior series by the way!),

I’ve also been enjoying the TPE podcasts but couldn’t find a way, from an iPhone/iTunes, to argue against “M” and “winner-take-all tournaments” (wut…?yell)…so I’m rejoining for that too.

That is some good content, but, well, I just started to miss that TPE video opening music and stock guy-playing-too-many-tables footage, and the content that comes after. Now…how far back do I have to go to watch KB get torn down in a hand history review?

I also miss the forums and a way to talk through spots to keep my thinking healthy.

Feel free to reply here or DM if you live in, or ever travel through Vancouver!

– Rafe, a.k.a. “Movie”, a.k.a. “MovieFX” (though using my name still seems the least weird, its all good)

Welcome back.  We need more posters!

M and BB are now almost always a constant 2.5 multiple.  SB,BB and BB ante =2.5, except for the cases where the SB isn’t 1/2 of the BB.  I think we can retire M, too.  Sorry, Clayton.

WW1 and 2 were great.  I am going to give them another listen.

It is pretty sick that right after finally knocking “M” in a post, the very first post I reply to is about a tourney with no antes and being short stacked… You may have won this round sir! I almost called it a pre-flop-SPR out of principal…. Still… once they get the OMCs to accept BB antes in daily live tourneys we should be able to start with antes at level 1 (no smaller chips needed). I’ve been meaning to ask the Parq here if they will do that soon now that they switched to BB antes. Then M may get a nail in the coffin.

WW1 and 2 were great.  I am going to give them another listen.

Funny you say that, I just started back in myself.
