Hi all. Was just starting to start studying hard and trying to improve my game when Black Friday came. Pretty much got caught up in dealing with life and hardly played at all until recently, when a two day trip to AC inspired me to start brushing up again. I found the sight via the TPE podcasts (which are awesome!) and decided to give it a try, since I really enjoy tourneys. Playing some micro stuff on Merge right now, and just trying to get better and stop doing dumb things. I haven't really dug too much into the forums, but I'm sure I will. Looking forward to a bunch more interaction with you all and plugging my leaks. I'm throwing in more live games at local bars too, to get a more well rounded perspective.
See you all around the tables!

Hey dude. I'm originally from Roxborough and spent a fair share of time traveling through Abbington (don't think I ever hung there). I'm down in Chester County now, near Lancaster Co. Don't know about study groups, but I kmow there are lots of things to explore on this site. Do you listen to the pod cast? It's pretty great. It's got a lot of great strategy talk. I feel smarter (though I'm sure I'm not) every time I listen to it. I've been playing Mondays at the Riddle Ale house the past few weeks on Mondays (A River Chasers event.) Not too far from you I think. It was a nice warmup for going to AC. Free play, $100 prize most weeks. Those bar games are a great way to get real felt experience without going broke. Planning on hitting it again this Monday.

welcome to the family and glad you dig the podcast!
Thanks dude! I feel like I know you, Ron and a few of the the pros already. I will surely TRY to get out to an event in AC or someplace else local next time you guys make a road trip. Sounds like a blast.
Great site too, so far. I was so happy to find a place dedicated to tournys, since that is what I am most interested in. I just love the last man standing concept. I'm hoping you can help me get rid of my “nit with a side of spew” tendencies.

Welcome…………. If you really want a feel for the LIVE game, you should start at Parx, Del Park or Chester……….normally the saturday tourneys are good. Lots of Fish and a few solid players. But, either way, it's a good place to start to learn the live game and get a feel for all the dynamics. Playing in a bar or someone's house with 20 guys is ok, but nothing like tourney poker in a casino with dealers in a REAL setting. Starting off in AC like I did in '08 was tough, lol. I got beat up for a year and a half before I got a clue and then I STILL kept getting beat up because I didn't know the finer points of the game. Then, I met Ttwist & some other guy he referred to as BigDog during the WSOPC Harrah's in Dec '09 and they put me on the path of being a much better player……….
I believe in everything this site has to offer………. Yes, I'm a little bias, but OH WELL.
I would tell you to think about attending Lee Child's (along with Jason Young) Inside the Minds class when he has it at Borgata during the BIG tourney series'. He's a TPE Pro and brings in other great pros. The advanced class last year had Gavin Smith & Matt Glantz. Awesome.
This site has helped my game and Lee's class plugged a few small leaks…………….. Just a thought.
NO, TPE or Mr. Child's don't pay me to talk about them. I do it proudly because they're my friends and I believe in their products……………..Just saying
Happy hunting
