Hi- So I have purchased Holdem Resources, and am having some trouble figuring how to use it. I am watching M.Hunts short stack series where he's using it a lot and I'm trying to learn it just by watching him. Its not easy. Are there any video tutorials, anywhere, and how to just use the software? He goes pretty fast and I get the basic idea but I'm not finding the functionality that fast. I quick vid on how to use it would be priceless.
The same goes fo Crev. Also, has anyone had any luck getting CRev to work on a mac. Cuz thats what I'm on and I've had no luck with the install.
Any help appreciated, thx!

HRC is a great tool, and I'm glad more people are getting into using it. It is tough to get to grips with at first – I thought about making my video series more of a tutorial, but I think that might have been a little slow for some people.
You can find what looks like a pretty good tutorial video here:
Hope that helps. If you'd like some additional assistance, feel free to PM me and I can walk you through the basics.
Cheers,
Matt

Wanted to try HRC, but unfortunatelly couldn’t get their trial to run on my PC. Also I am not a big fan of pay/limited time period for software.
Now I am thinking about buying crEV and Flopzilla. I feel pretty certain, that CREV is a good investment, but I wonder what you guys think about flopzilla. Are the advantages worth it compared to a simply equity tool like PokerStove?
Does anyone have any experience with these programs and can comment? Thanks. : )

Flopzilla is useful for hand vs range calculations, but you might want to try CoffeCalcs if you want something that can do range vs range. Obviously neither of them have any GTO element.
CREV is great, but tricky to get used to. It’s only good if you’re going to be looking at very advanced decision tree calculations, and it doesn’t do postflop GTO very well, mostly just exploitative stuff.
Personally I use Simple Postflop – the Turn and River versions are available free/cheap I believe, and it’s a very powerful piece of GTO equilibrium software that can also run exploitative calculations.

I am deliberating over whether to purchase HMRCalc.
I do feel I might be falling behind the times. The only training software I use regularly is SNGWizard (I totally love the quiz mode), and PokerSnowie. Thus far, one has been able to use the SNGWizard quiz and Challenge Snowie features with real money poker clients open, but Snowie recently froze my sub as I had been using Challenge Snowie with the Stars client open, even though the main body of PokerSnowie had automatically shut down upon opening Stars. (They have re-opened my sub now btw).
I always thought it was an intended feature to be able to run a (RNG) Challenge Snowie table alongside a poker client, much like the SNGWiz quiz mode…but apparently not. I have been corresponding with the PokerSnowie CEO around this and other things. I hope they reverse their decision to disable Challenge Snowie when Stars is open. I see no ethical dilemma whatsoever, and I find the ability to use Challenge Snowie whilst my real money tables are firing up very valuable. Another reason I value being able to use a Snowie table with Stars running is when I am looking to incorporate another table into my schedule. I use a Snowie table in place of a real money table until I am comfortable.
So I have a question…
As an MTT SNG 180 man reg looking to branch out into real MTTs…what software would you recommend? I am not even specifically thinking GTO here.
I am pretty comfortable with my push/fold game, and whilst I understand ICMIZER is possibly an improvement over SNGWiz (split pots etc.), its lack of a quiz mode turns me off cold. I have 3 kids, so my poker study time is very limited. I particularly like SNGwiz as I can be using it as my tables fire up in play.
In order to be competitive in today’s MTT world, in your opinion, which piece(s) of software are compulsory?
My guess is… CRev and HMRCalc. But how about Flopzilla?
In other words…what am I missing out on with Snowie and SNGWiz and why?
Many thanks.

Sorry Smartapa, I just saw your post. I could’ve helped maybe.
Although I think the Snowie team is somewhat sheepish right now with me. As I stated in my post above I have always been able to “Challenge Snowie” with Stars open. The main body of Snowie shut down, but the PvE part remained open. As a RNG engine I presumed this was an intended feature…much in the same way as the SNGwizard quiz mode remains accessible with Stars open, but apparently not! Now I’m wondering whether the SNGwiz quiz also should not be accessible with a real money client open!
I hope you like Snowie. I love it. Gl man!
