Ignition, Zone Poker NL25, 6max

Me: UTG ($24.40 in chips)

Villain: Small Blind ($49.60 in chips)

UTG  [ME] : Card dealt to a spot [Js Ah]

I RFI 3BB, fold to blinds, both call

I think pretty standard here, BB has somehow wide range, when SB range is 22-TT, JTs, JQs, KJs, ATs, AQo. May be couple more suited connectors, may be no 22-44.

*** FLOP *** [4d Ad Qh] ($2.25)

Small Blind : Checks

Big Blind : Checks

UTG  [ME] : Bets $0.75

Small Blind : Raises $3.14 to $3.14

Big Blind : Folds

UTG  [ME] : Calls $2.39

Nice flop to me, so I bet 3BB for a value (too ambitious in MW?). SB raised… bad news. AQo, KJs, JTs, 44(if any). Cannot find enough bluffs so added all suited KJ and JT.

*** TURN *** [4d Ad Qh] [7s] ($8.53)

Small Blind : Bets $5.50

UTG  [ME] : Calls $5.50

Pretty big turn bet. V probably will continue with entire his range since he has no enough bluffs… Or may be he will be value heavy with his bet here? Assuming he continue with all hands my hand has 39% equity. Should fold already? If he is not betting his gutshots then 16%. Then it is easy fold.  Decided to continue…

*** RIVER *** [4d Ad Qh 7s] [4s] ($19.53)

Small Blind : Bets $20.53

UTG  [ME] : All-in $15.01

4s looks as a good card for me and V shove. My equity increased to 55 from 39 (or 29 from 16) and I offered 30% pot odds so I hero call? Or because I cannot beat anything but bluff I should hero fold?

Will appreciate any comments

I think any information on your opponent here would help you make this decision easier. For example, if your opponent is generally passive I wouldn’t even hate folding on the flop. If your opponent is capable of over-playing top pair, you could see the turn and river. However, if you don’t know anything about your opponents tendencies, than I think I would fold on the flop. So as not to be too exploitable yourself, you could call flop raise and see what your opponent does next but I would not go any further than the turn. Your opponent is representing a strong hand. While he could be doing this with a fl. dr./str. dr., I don’t think your hand is strong enough to handle much more pressure. You beat cruddy A-x hands and draws but that’s really it.

Opp is unknown (it is zone poker, anonymous fast table).

But I actually I agree that flop fold can be right play here. The pool tendencies are that they rarely raise pre aggressors without monster. Especially in MW.

Can’t help myself to believe more in MW pots 🙁

Going a make a tattoo – “Poker is a honest game”…

P.S. Probably good thumb rule is to hero call when you at least can beat some of V value hands…

Appreciate your input!
