hi guys, been a long time since i jumped into the forums. just played a 4.5 hour 2/5 session where i created a google doc (below) with notes on all the hands that i VPIPed. i have a buddy who is a solid pro who said he would review my sessions with me if i took notes…this is the first time i have ever done this, i’d love feedback from anyone but especially people who have done this sort of thing before who can tell me if i did a decent job of documenting my session.

quickly, about me…been a poker “pro” for 3 years but I’m at best a mediocre cash game player and i have only managed to survive this long by getting a couple of decent tournament scores and then getting lucky with bitcoin. i can’t really count on continuing to get lucky as my only hope of survival….i need to become a cash game grinder with a good win rate or I’m screwedyell

i did make $39/hour at my casino last year over 1400 hours of play and i thought this was the new normal but, upon reflection, i was running over expectation…moreover the game i have mostly played is overly pro infested at the moment, i have a very large increase in living expenses, and the casino i play at has made many changes in terms of rakeback decrease, rake increase, loss of free food, and major drop in drawings that all adds up to about $1400-1600/month (by my calculations) more i will be giving up in earnings. the card room i play at just recently started spreading 2/5 ($300-$600), so at least i now have a better game to play in imo. previously i almost exclusively played 5/5 ($400-$1500) but the game is dominated by deep stack crushers and now i don’t have the bankroll to sit down in this game

sadly i have not set up the habits of a competent pro after playing the game for 8 years now….hopefully later is better than never, i’m planning on busting my ass now to get better at this game.

hopefully this gets a good discussion going on how to evaluate sessions and some specific feedback on the hands i played. i might post future session notes here if people are interested.

i wrote these notes for a friend who has familiarity with some of the players so a few of the posted hands might assume some knowledge of a particular villain, i apologize where the info i give is insufficient

thx, Mike
