Hi everyone,

I just took 4th in the Stars $55 100K on Sunday for 7.6k, which is a huge score for me (sry for the brag).  And one ignorant poker buddy came over and look over my HH in HEM.  Instead of reviewing the tournament as a whole (everyone should, highly recommended), he just looked at the all in pots (which is pretty useless without knowing any reads or table dynamics).  He complained (green with envy) that I won so many more flips than losing and sucking out twice.  I just sheepishly agreed that I am a lucky donk and sent him on his way, because I don't want to ruin his perpetual run bad/never win flip mentality.

Sorry for the pointless rant.  I reviewed my HH and yes, I win more flips than I lose (8W-3L), however, I will never be in the position to win these flips 4 months ago (before I joined TPE). For example,

1.  A9o with 19BB, BB vs SB.  SB put me all in, I called, he showed 55.  I would insta-fold 4 months ago, thinking I most likely have one live card.

2.  Raise/call 17BB with KQo CO vs BB (aggressive/high 3-bet%/showdown weak hands previously), he showed A8o.  I would fold thinking I am most likekly dominated or flipping.  I also would snap fold without considering pot odds or my opponent's tendencies.

3. shove KQo in CO with 15BB, got snap by AKs in BB, bink 3-outer.  I would raise 2.5x and tank/sigh fold, after all, what can I be ahead of? (yes, I was that bad before TPE)

Well, what I want to say is, a +EV play is a +EV play, period.  If I am ahead of their range, I make the call, and if I turn out I am flipping, so be it.  I know in the long run I will dominate more times than not.

Getting to the FT needs a lot of luck, however, you also need to be prepared to get lucky.  Thanks TPE!!!

Sorry about the rambling, good luck at the tables.
