I've seen how players are cursed when they post live sweats, and all of a sudden they're out. I think there is a new curse.
Running like a dog after joining. How long does it last?
I have to say, and I am pretty sure that it is not perception, but since joining TPE, I've never run so bad for so long.
It has been about 8 weeks, and it is one bad beat after another. It is relentless. It never stops tourney after tourney.
I know my game has improved leaps and bounds, because it was so bad, but man, I can't get over how bad I'm running.
Sure, still making some bad calls and plays, but have definitely improved that part of my game.
Even when i flop monsters, by the river I'm a dog. My AA and KK keep getting cracked. Hardly win a flip, and practically
loosing all of my 70%. Before I joined this site I had an ROI over 200% for this year, and now it is just over 100%. Maybe
I should go back to playing like a donkey. (Just kidding)
Is this some sort of initiation from TPE? If so, enough please. I can't take it anymore. It is getting very expensive. My laptops
keep flying out the window.
What I've done now is construct a “Indestructable, impenetrable, extra strength, super high tensile titanium steel cage” to put
my laptop in. Seems to work, but I have a sore big toe.
All jokes aside, fantastic site, and so happy I found you guys. I can't wait to run a little better. I want to put my new found skills to the test, but just not getting the opportunity.
Sorry had to let off some steam. Thx for listening.

well i had 3 consecutive 1k+ months after joining TPE, all from playing $10-$20 tourneys, and lately, when i haven't been watching as many vids, i have been breakeven for a while.
so i think i am the opposite 😀

When I am on the darkside of variance, I drop down stakes and ride it out so the sting is not so bad on the BR. Even if you watch all the videos and troll the forums it still happens, just the nature of the beast. That would make a good podcast, how our pros handle the long-stretch variance.
"Your either in Sheen's Korner or your with the trolls."
its really just the nature of the beast and takes some getting used to, you prooly are finding yourself in more situations since youve become a member and are expanding your playing ability which sees you in more funny spots along the way and also when it goes like this you start to notice all the suckouts and have trouble seperating the bad from the good. just hang in there it will come full circle
Thanks for the encouragement KB, ttwist and all the others.
If anyone should be use to variance it should be me. I played Blackjack professionally (card counting) for 3 years and believe me, the variance in poker is a picnic compared to the variance you can go through in Blackjack. But you can never get used to it. We play in the “actual” and not the “expectation”. We can't see the “expectation” that is the long run. The “actual” is the here and now, the hand and tourney your playing in, that is what you see and feel.
Unfortunately, we're not machines and emotions are part of our human nature. You would read books on professionals talking about you need to play like a machine and feel no emotions or you will tilt. Well they are in la la land. There is no way you can avoid the emotion. We are human. A true professional will feel the emotion but will not act on it. He would never let it affect his game.
I'm far from a great poker player, (hence why I joined) but I can honestly say, no matter how bad it gets, no matter how many bad beats, no matter how bad the variance, I never and I mean never go on tilt. It is something I trained myself to do playing Blackjack. I feel it, I get angry, I kick things, I scream etc, but once the next hand appears or the next tourney, I play it to the best of my poker ability and I do not let my emotion dictate my decision.
Variance is unavoidable, but actions due to tilt is avoidable and controllable. Just say to youself, “It is ok to feel tilted, but never never never act on it”
I think you have a nice view there on how to not let variance affect our game don.
I'm with benny and have only really profited since joining TPE so i'm not of the curse view myself.
When i saw the title to your post i was thinking you had something bad to say about the site and even got a touch angry lol
Seems like you are emotionally a bit of a rock if you have played blackjack seriously for so long. So, like you said, this is a walk in the park for you buddy. Ride it out and the next post you have in this section will be a brag i'm sure
