I understand that every hand is a random event. But after busting 4 times in a row to 2 and 3 outers on the river, is it best to just assume that the variance is just not with you? Is it best to just hang it up and watch 30 Rock reruns or should you just try to plow on through?
I would say it depends on your mindset. First you have to verify, were you truly unlucky in these hands or not. Posting hands in the forum could help, as well as using an equity calculator such as Poker Stove. If you can't get over the hands in question it is probably best to take a break.

if you are getting frustrated then it is definitely better to quit.
btw i was 10 tabling tourneys for about 5 hours last night and there was 9 times where i got it in 75%+ and lost the hand.
was not happy, but i felt i was playing really well so i kept playing. managed to breakeven, although in a way that is even more frustrating than losing because i just didnt bink one of the tourneys but got unlucky when i was fairly deep in several of them.
