This is a hand from a SnG I was playing with another TPE member Moizt (Daaazy). Think it's all pretty standard but Moizt thinks I should fold, just wanted to run it past you guys.

I'm confused for a couple reasons. 1) There is no way this is a 1k SNG. 2) Are those chip counts correct? 3) Is is this a serious question? If so you fold this 100% of the time on the turn.  But I guess the real question is how do you let yourself get down to less than 8 BB's and Daaazy less than 4 BB's and limps in with Q7o?!  Come on guys, surely TPE has taught you to play better than this!  I think I speak for everyone who reads this post.  Not being rude, just honest.

I mean I can't understand how it can be a bad call when I won. Plus his jam looked really bluffy, I may have folded to a smaller bet.

I think we both played this hand perfectly. Q7o has amazing equity but I choose to limp with 4 big blinds so I can still get away on the flop. I get a free flop, and I miss. I check because I want to give my opponants some rope to hang themselves (my strategy cool). I think queen high is way ahead of their bluffing range. When nobody bets, I decide to take action and value shove. However, it appears that Runningouts has a soul read on me, since he knows that i know that he knows that i know that he knows that i know that he knows that i know that he knows that i know that he knows that if a 4 hits, it's bye bye Moizt. He does make the good call, and like he predicted, the 4 hit, and I was knocked out.

Please consider the high level thinking in this hand… It may look awful, but to true sit n go grinders, this hand seems really well played.

Also I considered Moizt to be among the better players at the table and so to give myself the best chance of winning I decided to take the flip to eliminate him, especially as it was for a small part of my stack. The only thing I can see now that maybe was a mistake is that I didn't minraise preflop to iso him.

I think that the mistake that alot of regs make in this spot is they focus on the negatives, they say to themselves “I only have four outs, I should fold”. But what they fail to realise is that they only have to hit ONE of those four. running0uts shows a sophisticated understanding of this concept in this hand by weighing up the information available to make a great read on what the river card's most likely range is.

Of course this is for real. I mean this might not be standard play in MTTs but in high stakes STTs there are a lot of strange dynamics. Maybe I should have posted this it the 'ask the pros' section.

LOL at please consider the high level thinking in this hand… I've played thousands of SNG's and this is awful.  In fact, your logic is horrible.  “Q7o having amazing equity to limp with 4 bb's so I can get away on the flop.”  Good one.  If you guys aren't going to take this site seriously then please refrain from posting stupid hands like this.  Seriously.

Seems that there is some confusion about odds and outs, which is understandable as it is complex maths. When I am thinking about making the call I first think what able are the two possible outcomes: 1) I hit my straight with a 4; 2) I miss the straight. So I have 1/2 chance of hitting the hand. But here is a step a lot of people miss, there are 4 4s! So my chance of hitting isn't just 1/2, in fact it is 4 x 1/2 = 2. Now when you have odds of 2 it's pretty good and you can make a call with small pot odds. Add to that two more factors and you can see that this is an instacall. 1) I was running really good and felt this one was going to hit, and 2) I don't necessarily have to even hit the river to win. When you add this to my odds you get about 2.6, pretty good right?

Hope I have cleared up some of the confusion on the maths there.

omg your guys thinking is ALL FLAWED!

like emufart said – we have four outs but we only have to hit ONE of those four outs

last time i checked, 1/4 was 25% no??

yep, sure is..

now theres 1414 in the pot and it costs us 614 to call

thats giving us like 2.3:1 pot odds which equates to around 30%!!!! making this a double fist pump super snap hi five the monitor call imo

add to this the 'frozen' odds (this is an extremely young poker term that no-one has ever heard yet) meaning that when you call all in, the pot cannot grow, and will remain 'frozen' thereby making it IMPOSSIBLE for us to lose any more money in the long run

just sayingcool

if you want to post something like this, i think it should be in the BBV thread. trolling everyone will make it less likely we get responses on legitimate hands imo

What about this spot guys?

I think I played it really well preflop, and running outs played it pretty perfectly too.
