So, inspired by my new job which allows me a little disposable income for live poker and the lessons learned on this site, Twitch, and the Thinking Poker podcasts I headed to one of the local Edinburgh casinos for their monthly £65 tournament, which comes with a £5000 guarantee tournament. 

Long story short, I sat down at my first ever live poker tournament, and 8 hours later I walked out of the place after a 3 way deal with £2000, with 1st advertised as £2050. While I ran very pure, there were a couple of spots I was super happy with my play, and especially having the patience when I was card dead for a couple hours and had to blind down a little from my big stack. 

I already thanked everyone on Twitter, but thought I would put it in the forums as well, this score allows me to put a chunk towards the wedding I’m saving up for, and allows me to treat my fiance to a fancy meal when we go away for a weekend for my birthday.

Given that just 8 months ago I was working 0 hours, griding poker to make any extra income I could the change is huge, and it’s all due to finding the right communities, and transferring this mindset to other parts of my life as well. 

To everyone grinding, good luck! It’s definitely worth it when you hit that score – hopefully I can satellite into some bigger tournaments and make my first 5 figure score next.
