I'm curious what the pros would estimate how “bad” a downswing is by buy-ins.

Currently I'm on a 17 buy-in down swing.  I'm not super worked up about it.  I'm just curious.  It's something that is so personal as well as the effect of being over-rolled or underrolled.  So obviously there isn't any set categories, but I'm more curious on a personal level what would the various downswings be catergorized.

10?

15?

20?

25?

30?

35?

40+?

Oh btw since my video watching has got a little lazy over the past 2 weeks so has my game (my game is lazy ya know)…

how many tables do you play?

when i am playing a serious session, i play 6-10, so sometimes ill  play 15 tourneys in a night, so 17 buyins doesn't even register as a downswing for me, just an off night.

probably the worst i have had recently was around 40 buyins, as well as a 100 tourney breakeven stretch, but to be honest, i was never worried at all because i have about 250 ABIs in my roll, and i felt i was playing well, so it was all sweet.

downswings used to affect me a lot more, but now i feel really confident in any game i am playing (especially since joining TPE) so i KNOW that the next big score is around the corner and that i am not making stupid plays that often. its not a matter of if i dig out of the hole but when.

I have had multiple 100+ bi downswings and my graph keeps moving upwards. Its common to see pros on 2+2 talk about 200+bi downswings. In mtts the downswings can be massive which is why proper br mgmt is absolutely vital to long term success

Add me to the 100+ bi downswing club.

The hardest part is trying to determine if it's due to variance or poor play or a combination of the two.
