Was card dead for quite a while, only $450 up top but I’m not rich and I’m still learning, about 30 players remaining and I’m dealt JA, I’ll let you see the rest from here…

I just feel so shit right now I don’t even want to play, I went from feeling so good thinking I’ve got that hand locked up, going to be in 2nd with a crazy chance of reaching the FT and then nothing…

How much time have you put into thinking that you actually got lucky hitting a jack on that flop, because about 75% of the time his AK is going to beat your hand.

And how much time have you put into thinking that when you get your money in there in this spot, you will – WILL – lose 15% of the time no matter what. It’s inescapable. It is math, and it is unavoidable, and it is fundamental to this game that the best hand is going to lose a given percentage of the time. If you ran that simulation 100+ times, this or running Q T would happen to you 15 or more times and that’s just the game.

Learn not to be angry about numbers. Remove the emotional investment in actual cards and see it as the result being in one of the two buckets: the 85% bucket (yay, got it in good and I held!) or the 15% bucket (got it in good and I lost, oh well!) and this should be much easier to handle in future.

Simple case of ul, gg, carry on.

Thanks for your reply, I’m over it now anyway, I think the thing that annoyed me the most was the player that originally shoved had a QTo and managed to get a straight, regardless though, even if that player folded and I was playing HU against villain it would more than likely still have played out the same, with a KA high he would almost indefinitely call any bet I make on the flop and still hit the K on the turn.

Anyway, I’ve accepted it now, bad beats happen, I’ve had worse than that happen to me too, for sure. Back to grinding. : )

I just lost AK to AJ all in pre, flopped Ace, turn J. Poker.

We never deserve to win just because we got it in good. You don’t deserve anything other than to get the long-run expected outcomes that come as a result of your decisions.

Stop focusing on the cards once the money is in. How you might lose after this is irrelevant – 100% irrelevant. Your thought processs that led to that final chip going over the line is where you should focus your energy.

You could also take something with you from this. If you had minraised pre you would be given the opportunity to isolate the guy coldcalling with Q10.

It’s frustrating to loose at times but try to think how you could have played the hand differently. Had you minraised the Q10 most likely would have folded out pre and while still loosing to the shortie you would still have over 10bb in your stack.
