I hope you've all been there.  Your A high flush hits on the turn, your small PP are tripping like there is no tomorrow.  It seems like before you know it you're at the FT and everything runs good your QQ holds against AK and you 77 holds vs A8.  You take down a 180 tourny without breaking a sweat and open your cashier button and smile.  It has been a good night.  You shut your computer off goto bed and dream great dreams about stuff you can't talk about with your mother.   You wake up the next morning fire up your computer and it happens.

You start off your 180 card dead.  So after blinds get up to 50-100 you make a  few moves in postion only to run into big hands and loose half your stack.  The very next hand you pick up KK and some donk calls without any odds with K4 and trips his 4s to knock you out.  So you fire up a couple more.  Pick up A10s on the first hand flop gin.. top pair with 4 to the nut flush.  You bet out and all 3 people in the pot with you call and you hit your flush on the turn, slow play the hand and check and the next guy goes all in you call and he hits his boat on the river.

For the next few days it seems that all of your tournys go this way.  You min cash in a few but for the most part watch your account drop and drop.  You think to yourself why do I play this game.  It doesn't matter what I do all my hands miss and I must not be any good.  I QUIT POKER FOREVER!

We get so lost in the current bad beats that we take that we forget the luck beats when our JJ takes out QQ and gives us that boost to make the FT with enough chips not only to survive for a pay raise but take down the tourny for a big score.  Then to make matters worse we hit the chat room and go complain about what just happened to us.

I have been guilty of this and from here on out I am going to commit to ignoring this bitch we call variance and instead focus on using this site and the tools available to learn and limit her role in my game.  If we focus on the bad beats and the bad players making horrible plays and beating us and just play our game we can't loose.  Your account will thank you even if it does take a few bumps.

Good luck at the tables!

I find it helpful when doing HH review to look at all my allin spots and see if I was ahead or behind when the money went in.

It all evens out (running + vs – EV) but the goal is to make sure you are getting it in good and not to worry about the outcome.

right now even if I get lucky in a tourny I still dont make final tables.  Havent had a win in months, and prolly only made about 10 FT's since Feb.
