Hey Guys,

Today I made it past 60 to the 2nd round of this local invitational tourney.  Winners from the daily tourneys get tickets, and all 50 finalists come back on sat 12-18.  Guaranteed $400.  I am certain that I would not have made it as far as I did without some of the stuff I have learned from you guys, both the coaches and those posting in the forums… Thanks and wish me luck…marty

Thanks for the well wishes. Shipped the final table. Played pretty well. By the time we got there blinds were 40-80k and I had 545k stack. The biggest only was around 800K. They all wanted to chop except me and the big stack, although I was willing to go along, he was not. 1 hand was dealt, qq vs ak held up all in, and then the stacks were a little more even, and the biggie relented and we did a 10 way chop for $3564…..So I’m saying that the site has definitely paid for itself in spades. I would never have done the amount of reshoving and shoving that I did before I started watching the videos. I also really noticed that my stack play and awareness was better than most of the guys I was playing against. Thanks again for all of your efforts to create a first class product here! And now- time for Christmas shopping…marty

did you rate yourself against the rest of the table?

tbh i would never take a 10 way chop, i would back myself to make it to at least 4-5 handed before even thinking about it. each to their own i guess, great score!

Yeah, I took the 10 way chop. I didn’t really like it, but everyone else wanted to, so I guess I just gave in to the pressure. I think that I was better than most of the players- half of the table anyway. I would have preferred to play down to 5. Any suggestions re dealing with these types of situations would be appreciated. I guess part of it was that we were all pretty short- I was above average w about 7 bb. I guess I should have been as aggressive in the negotiations as I was playing poker. mwb

i personally say i never chop (not true) sorry.  Or make up a backer and say my backer said I can't chop.

the only time i have ever had the opportunity to chop was when it got to heads up in a live tourney where it was 10k for first and 3k for second, i had a 2:1 chip lead over the guy.

he asked for a chop, i thought about it for a while, said nah lets gambool, and then proceeded to get dealt aces first hand of heads up and got it in against sixes for the win.

no chops FTW 😛
