Bad swing getting worse

Ok!  Watching lots of video's, reading HH posts and studying my HH too.  Playing lots of volume in SNG's and Tourny's to try to turn my swing around but have to say my confidence is totally shot.  Bankroll is on the worse downswing I have ever encountered and it seems no matter what I try to do I cannot win a hand.  I know this happens to everyone but it sure hurts.  What is killing me is my wife is playing the way I taught her to play and the way I play but she is taking 1st or 2nd in over 65% of the SNG's she has entered.  She says I am just having a run of bad luck.  Sorry for venting but I have no other “poker friends” to talk too lol.

I know what you mean goroyalblue.  Mine has been close to that length of time too.  It has to turn someday right?  🙂

Take a few weeks off poker is probably best, take time to think about the way hands are played and come back in about a week or 2. Trust me it helps and you will have much more of an urge to play and win. Review hand historys in that time as well.

Good idea!  I think I will take this week off of playing and just go over some HH's and run some thru the universal replayer to work on my game too.

Goroyalblue,

Maybe your just playing to fishy and playing bad. Honestly 75s in a $12 rush on demand is asking for trouble. Why not just fold there when you get a chance at 200 hands in a single session? Why do you feel the need to play weird hands oop when you can instant click fold and have seen 8 hands in the time it took that hand to complete?

Don't get me wrong sometimes I call here too in mtt's with this hand but you call to try and nail a flop, not hit bottom pair and keep calling to try and get there and donk him.

Analyzing your hand real fast.

You obviously whiffed the flop and your oop and need to check fold the flop. Pot – 2100~ on flop

The turn is a c/r if he barrells again but will probably go check check. If he does have JJ-AA he will definitely barrell the turn and there is no reason to donk bet here.

The river is a c/f I hardly doubt he ships anything but a straight on you and maybe 50% of the time a set. He's probably checking back AA-JJ definitely checking AQ/AK on you and maybe barrelling a set which has you beat as well. Even if you checked the turn, your oop and you should be checking the river here.

Side note: You should watch more video's, review hand historys, analyze hands/leaks and work on trying to get it in ahead. If you can get it in ahead 60-70% of the time and/or at least flipping you will win more then you lose.

goroyalblue,

I don't play a lot of rush, so I don't know about all of the adjustments for the table dynamics with the quickfolds, but 75s seems like a really loose open even to me. I think that is a pretty clear muck. Calling the flop bet with bottom pair there seems really bad to me. I still don't like my hand on the turn enough to lead. Yeah you have two pair, but there is a pretty hefty draw lurking out there and there is a pretty good chance you are drawing pretty thin to dead at this point. I think you have to at minimum check, or bet much smaller if you are trying to blocker bet him. Not sure what you are trying to do on the river there. I don't think you are really getting any value there and are pretty much only getting called by hands that absolutely smash you. I would take this stuff out of your range, just causes so much trouble to say the least.

I agree with Kuroshi and LPG 100%. Maybe its time to slow down your play and think out hands and opponents hand ranges more.

Just wanted to put in a quick update.  I took your advice to heart(as well as the latest video from ttwist) and I have plugged that leak.  As I have done this I have made numerous deep runs and have picked up over 1k in the past couple of weeks.  Thank you so much for the input and in depth analysis of my bad beat post.

Thx GRB
