Fresh of the back of my back to back victories at my local pub poker league, I've decided that it really is time to knuckle down and try to start crushing it online. So, I was just wondering if there are currently any articles/videos/threads about how to get the most out of using a universal re-player to work on your game? I understand the principle, but I'm just wondering if any of the pros have any suggestions on how to get the biggest return on the time that you invest.

I'm not a pro, but I do lots of reviews using Universal Replayer and PokerTracker. The first thing I do is look for all the deep red blocks and see if there was a better way to play the hand. I will look to assign a range to my opponent(s) and then work out if a different line would be more optimal. I often use UR in conjunction with PT so I can see stats on my opponents, which helps with assigning a range. I always ask the question: why am I betting? Do I get worse to call or better to fold? If he calls the flop what is he continuing with on the turn? Am I value betting here or bluffing? What bet size will he call? Those sorts of things. I find the more reviews I do the better I get at hand reading and can then be a level or two ahead of my opponent.

A lot of the dark red blocks will be from all-in confrontations, and with these I look again to assign a range in Pokerstove and see if it's profitable to call/shove/fold etc. I use SNGWiz in chip equity mode to help out with this too, plus exporting the hand to holdem resources to check on equilibrium plays and adjusting my ranges based on that. Some players shove tighter than equilibrium, which means you have to call tighter, others call tighter than equilibrium, which means you can shove much wider than nash suggests.

Let me know if you need any more information and I'll try to help you out.

PT4 or Holdem manager are both great investments (just pick one). Review your HH daily after each session, not just pots u lost but all pots you played, put results aside and take the time to think about the purpose of your actions, your desired results etc

Get all over push fold math…SNG wizard, Kill Phill/Everyone, etc

Repeat and crush

Upswing potential is huge
