24min OMG! It’s like I predicted this in part 1. I knew I remembered you saying “I feel like Ax has to be opened with this stack” before. Earlier in this tourney you had around 100bb and wanted to just cruise and play tight instead. I asked and you said it depends on the table. I get that.
Now my question is do you open here due to the table being passive or do you have to be more aggro with 50bbs regardless of how the table is playing?

31min Man I hate that spot. I always get there and not know what to do with marginal hands like 77-99. My rule is he has to be doing this with at least 2 pairs I dominate. I would shove 66 there (but not 33) so I like the call. Also, I think he could notice that you have tightened up some due to the stack sizes. Again, I hate when this happens. I would probably fold 77 there.
What do you think of some spots like this with 55-77 where you may be getting just enough equity to call so that the spot is technically a BE spot? Do you call or fold with 50ish bbs in a BE spot?

With the 2 flush draws towards the end, unless you have 2 overs and the nut flush draw, you dont have more than 35-40% equity anyway so I see no issue with the way you played it.
Considering that we think they both had at least top pair and probably would not fold with the stack sizes here, I think shoving those flops would probably be bad, no?
Playing it passively like this means.
A. You leave a little money on the table when you hit your flush
B. You save a little money when you miss your flush
B is going to happen more often so I like the passive route.

Loving this series, first class analysis from Casey as usual.

First hand J8o. Really want to know why you dont open that 🙂 I mean you have a BIIIG stack and you are in the cutof, why dont try try to steal ?

at 8:45 dont you think it would be a good move to bet again to protect the table from seeing your hand? obv hes calling with an A and youre going to lose if he has one but hes just a bad player and probably doesnt have one to begin with.. i dont hate the check but i think there is more merit to betting that river than you state in the video

The 33 hand at 14 mins…do you hate bet/folding the turn even with your read? I understand he’s bluffing a lot of the time but it seems like his suckout equity is just too good with almost any bluff against your holding. People tell me that in this situation 33 is as good as larger pairs but I hate that suckout equity and might choose to preserve chips at this point. I’m not trying to criticize, just trying to decide whether this is a leak in my own game and just need to suck it up and make this calls given the monster stack. Perhaps this is just a difference in our styles of play…you talk a lot about that and your yo-yo stack and this is part of it. Sorry, thinking out loud here. Any comments welcome.

I suppose my line then, just to continue, is best folding preflop in these spots to avoid the possible leak (of folding to any bluff) as played. The bigdog has the stomach to make these calls and I’d just avoid them which you admit is maybe the best line…especially for my style of play.

3:20ish hand with QQ. I think you misread the hand replay.. You say you check the the turn and he checks back, but he never checks back. You talk for a little while longer and then say you check *again*, and he bets 20k. This is still the turn. This obviously changes the analysis so I thought I should point it out in case no-one else has.

I have some questions, sorry if theyre a bit noobish
Bet sizing- Do you guys think that minraising 3 betting less than a minraise and c-betting around 30% is optimal. Doesn’t this allow people to draw to cheap.
Stack Management- You mention that with 100BB+ your not looking to take too many spots and just cruise so when do you speed it up? around 50-60 BB or is it more dependant on the other stacks.
At 36:36 you open 33 with around 40BB this is similar to your strategy with 100BB albeit your opening a lot of hands you would have folded earlier on. Is there a point where you eliminate small pairs from your opening range E.G with 20-25BB
And finally what stack size would you start open shoving with? Is it still alright to open/fold with 20BB
Thanks

has anyone else noticed that since this video so many people are shoving99? In the same tournament, at the half way mark, it has already happened 3 times to me already. Thankfully my hand held up each time but I am wondering if this is the Bigdog effect?
The Riceman
c’mon Big Doggy the dudes above are good enough to support you, please answer them?
The Riceman
well that was freaky I fired up the next video and I thought you must have read my last comment as you answered it perfectly. Looking forward to hearing your answers.
