Whats the rationale for min raising 100bb deep? especially as you advocate a very tight preflop range wouldnt 3xing be better?

  2. duggs

29min where you defend 99 v UTG open, can we bet the turn for value v AK/AQ? someone that 3x’s wont fold to a single barrel with cards still to come.

  3. duggs

43min with QJdd why do we 3bet shove the flop? its super dry and if he has air he has 2 or 3 outs (barring AK with 6 but super unlikely given pre action) shouldnt we just call and let him bet the turn, or call and lead quite small. i mean if he has a better hand we are happy stacking anyway?

Around 30:30 you say that you are passive here with 100bbs more so than you would be if you had 40 or 50bbs. I totally get that. What I dont understand is what factors determine when you get aggro with 100bbs?

In the past, I’ve heard you say “I feel like this has to be opened with this stack” meaning 100bbs with like a marginal Ax or something.

So my question is how do you know when to be passive or aggro with 100bbs?

    Thanks.

41:00 You say jamming AKo there may have been bad. If so, what’s the better option?

My guess would be 4bet calling to give someone the option of 5betting shoving AQ? I think they would only 5bet shove AQ if they thought we were weak and shoving there looks way weaker than 4bet calling.

Im not sure if 4bet folding or flatting is an option here, is it?

Imo, with AK (which has blockers to the only hands you are afraid of) and a great chance for some overlay and 20bbs if you lose, I would get it in here every time.

43:00 with QJs. I love the mini lead in that spot OOP. Seems like a great way to get him to spazz in a spot where we want to get all the chips in. I think it would be hard to get it in ahead if we bet, bet, bet standard sizes OOP.

29:00 If you put him on two overs. Isn’t it better to bet-fold turn for value and check-call river? I feel like we could have bet 950 on turn. Then hope for check-check or plan to call on certain rivers if he does bet.

41.42 You always talk about not being results oriented and yet you keep saying, “with that flop would’ve got it in anyways”. Surely that’s being results oriented? The flop’s not always going to come like that.

As for the AK hand I’ve been trying to type out a better way to play it for the last half an hour and keep going back to how you played it. However, if we 4b we’re definitely getting the odds to make the call even if we put him on QQ+,AK, but if there’s a chance he spazzes out with worse like AQ then that’s awesome for us. By 4b jamming here I feel we’re allowing him to play perfectly since he’ll fold all of his weak hands and call with his strong hands.

That being said, by 4b/calling we’d need something like 35% equity to break even (depending on our 4b sizing), which means that even though we’d be getting that with AK, 65% of the time we’ll lose 45BBs.

We have a really healthy stack at this stage. Say we 4b to 5200 and then fold we still have 50BBs. If we 4b/call 35% of the time we go up to 120BBs and 65% of the time we go down to 23BBs. So that’s 42BB + 14.95BBs = 56.95BBs, which makes 4b/calling Mathematically better than 4b/folding.

Another thing is we haven’t taken the SB’s flat into account yet…

So… I think 4b/calling is better since we’ll be getting the odds to call vs MP. Also, by 4betting, if MP decides to jam and SB calls I think we can fold since AKo plays horribly three way against what we must perceive as genuinely strong ranges from two players. Vs QQ+,AK and TT+,AK we’re 19.646%. Whilst 1/5th of the time we win a bunch of chips, 4/5th of the time we’re down to 23BBs.

QJdiamonds. Rather call and keep he’s bluffs in. Although it’s close with that amount of money already in the pot.

Only the second Bigdog video I have seen. I loved it for the way it showed every hand. I suspect there are not many of us as tight as the Bigdog in the early stages of a tourney.Looking forward to the next one

Since you play so tight in the beginning, what’re your thoughts on just buying in late instead of potentially getting blinded down a little?

  12. playingfor4

Bigdog :/ You waste yours and our time to be honest :/ Why do you just press play in the replayer ? If you click on the next hand button (like aaaaaaaaa does) and when you fold the hand just go to the next hand, no need to se the other players play the hand 😉

  13. ehhh7

AJ jam 22bb UTG is so bad… you know that, dont like the way you were so disingenuous with your ‘hope for a hero call’ bs..

But none the less, fantastic vid, one of the best series I’ve seen.

  14. weeeeee

Bigdog as always good video. I am finding a coup’e of my weaknesses in my game for I tend to get a little impatient in games specifically deepstack games. thanks again and looking and looking forward to watch the third Sunday Million take down this year.

  15. Audashus

Would really appreciate an answer to the same min raising from beginning question. Also why get it in when so deep pre-flop in the AK v AA hand around minute 40? Great explanations for the rest though.

  16. Audashus

I’m more a live player learning the on-line game but live so often the early limper who will call a 3 bet or raise it smacks premiums like AA-KK or QQ at worst. Seems strange when we’ve played well to there, have a big stack etc to risk it on a coin flip when there will be tons of better spots later…IMO

  17. chayet

I think he goes on to say that it could have been him tilting a bit or that the he thought the 3bet was a move. He definitely acknowledged that it was a mistake of sorts near the end of this video.

SO many times I feel like maybe this just might be a lucky spot. And i am right sometimes. and yes I know its fishy but good to see even the best can have those thoughts.

I enjoyed the early nit stage. and very glad you included it.

The AK hand vs AA your shove was surprising, Lets say you flat call the 3 bet of player 2 with 3 players to the flop then u check the flop (Ace High) and he c bets and now player 3 shoves. can u fold? ( i might) thinking player 3 was set mining and hit. don’t laugh (your laughing) is that to weak? Also am I wrong to put myself in that spot?
