Strange move by TPE tbh. I believe DONs are less and less popular and making vids about them is wasting time cause its like making Fixed Limit Vids in 2010. Also they’ve been removed from Pokerstars offer for a reason, players’ ROIs are very vulnerable to collusion, and even on Stars, colluding in DONs was very common. I can only imagine what is happening on other sites. If you really have to make some series about low variance bankroll builders, one table sngs would be a better choice. There are a lot more money to make in them, and a lot more room to progress as a player.
Although you do bring up some good points, Don strategy is identical to satellites, which most MTTers play. I also disagree that there is more money to be made playing one table sitngoes. Dons take way less time and can be beat as high as 7% roi. Therefore, with rakeback and that roi, you would be making more money than a 1 table sitngo. Plus, if you are American, Dons are the only thing that actually go off on merge and Bodog. Needless to say, I hope TPE lets me do some 1 table vids as I have had success in those as well.
Marc; Welcome to TPE. I am really enjoying your vids.
One question and one comment.
Do you think that the same systems will work on Stars turbo Fifty50?
I view on an iPad and most in of the first vid the table windows are to small to read.

I believe don strategy is very useful in 5050s.
However, only certain aspects of the two games are similar.
When you are 6 handed in a 5050(aka the bubble) and have one of the shorter stacks, you can use all the don strategy in order to survive. At that point during a 5050 you are simply trying to get your money back without being at risk. I luved the 5050s, and would love if i could do some video on them. I had more success playing 5050s than i did DONS because the bubble is so easy to abuse. In my honest opinion, when you double up in a 5050 you should be opening almost everyhand and take a SUPER AGGGGGGGG approach to it.
GL Tom, i hope this was helpful
If any of you guys have more ? i usually pop into TPE chat 1-2 a night
Very interesting. About two thirds of the way through the video you say you’re folding QQ to a reshove as chip leader on the bubble? Am I understanding that correctly?

so i found the qq hand.
stacks:::::
i have 2900
shortie-1245
2nd in chips-2700(100 in sb)
3rd stack-2000
When i min raise here, I am literally looking to only get it in with the 1200 stack or just steal the blinds. Both other stacks can put a huge dent in my 2900 stack, so why be at risk here? Weird, cause I have qq and only 14 bbs, but calling one of the two other stacks is like lighting money on fire. This is where Dons can be so much different than other forms of poker. If i min raise call the 1200 stack, i would still have 1700 in chips and plenty of fold equity. Both other stacks, if they win, would cripple me. Another important fact is that i have played over 25k hands with 4ofthekind, and although he can do spewy things, he still understands that he needs an absolute monster to reshove over my min raise. Im never getting involved with 2nd in chips unless i have aa. I would fold kk if he reshoved over my min raise. 99% of the time!
Hopefully this is helpful

4 tablg lock makes all print blurry
I think 2 tablg and overlap to the larger size eliminates the blurr and still gives u plenty of action for teaching.
I am glad to see these sng’s vids. I grind them and want to

Thanks Marc, really interesting video. As you said, a lot of the play goes against everything we do in MTTs. I’m interested to know if you would still fold the QQ or KK to 2nd stack in a lower stakes game. Are you folding here because you assume the other guys know what they are doing or to reduce variance?
I liked the video. I liked how you use Holdem Manager and explained how you use it to get reads at your table. I like how you explain the sizing. It seems a bit different than MTT sizing.
I play the 10 and below DoNs on Carbon. I’d been lurking on your 50 and 100 DoNs on Merge prior to joining TPE, and I actually signed up for the express purpose of watching your DoN vids. I Just wanted to write you a note of appreciation: I thought the content was brilliant, and I especially enjoyed watching you clash with some of my usual foes at the micro tables in episode 3 (qbear, jcmorgan, and similar goofballs). Not sure if you planned to continue this series, but I’d be thrilled if you did, and I know for certain two of my friends would sign up with TPE to watch aznallin007 DoN content dealing with the 10-max DoNs (and SnGs) on Merge.
I realize you wrote this 6 months ago and conditions may have changed, but as of 3/1/2010, your assertion re: the declining popularity of DoNs is false, at least for US-only players with Merge, etc. as their sole outlet. On Merge, 10-max DoNs are nearly as popular as the freerolls; hence, these videos are hugely relevant to Merge players.
YO James, hope you are still grinding the dons.
In the past, i have been super worried about giving away too much info in dons as I feel i wasn’t changing my strat enough. This has all changed. New vids coming soon. KB says he is gonna record some Don footage and im gonna “STICK IT TO HIM”
Furthermore, I have gotten a +ROI playing DON’s as a result of your videos AND have recently gotten into some $100 buyin events (e.g. WSOP package tourneys) via step satties – just for $1. I have found myself in #1 position deciding to call an all-in from someone having 1/3 my stack and I am folding kk. Crazy but if there’s no upside why take the risk of getting cracked? I would never have thought of this if I hadn’t watch the don king 🙂 Thanks man.

Welcome Marc. Great Vid!! Been looking at DONs. Great strategy info.

Nice vid, I really enjoyed and learned from it!

Great video. I used to play $100 DON on Stars and was a winner not knowing half the stuff I just learned from you! Can’t wait for more in the series.
