what do you do with Q9 at 26:30 if villain raises the KQ9h flop? i’m guessing shove
smallcat66
I see at 1.25 that you 3x with AA utg. Do you tend to open bigger with your premium hands?. A lot of players do
Merfinis
I only do it if there are weaker unknown opponents on my table, against regular players I keep the sizing same at all times 😉

In the hand against NoraB23 at 24 mins, what do you think of betting small again as a bluff on the river to keep him from bluffing you with his busted flush draws? Since you bet so small on flop and turn I would think he is just calling with his flush draws rather than raising most of the time, especially once the board pairs on the turn. Going to the river I think he has 33, some Aces, some Queens and some flush draws. You have JT so that takes out some combos of AJ and AT that he would be playing for a raise, as well as QJ and QTs. If you bet around 1250 on the river I think he folds the flush draws and maybe even some queens because it looks so value-y.

Excellent video and series – thank you!
Some questions:
I’m confused if you play under Alcheminis or Merfinis on stars – opr has records for both. I was wondering if you could explain this?
i noticed you min raising in the early stages (your first hand w the deuces) and that you vary your raises in the very early stages between 3x and 2x … usually 3x to 2.5x in the deep early stages is the norm w/o varying your raise size per holding is the standard. Any reason why you don’t follow that? I was taken aback to see the min raise on the first hand.
Also re: your HUD I was trying to figure out what the first two numbers were. When you had 30bb the grey number after the parenthesized number was 113 so I didn’t think that was your stack bb number?
22:58 – can’t we make a case to float when he cbets on a dry board when we have two overs and two back doors?
40:29 – A6 is a loose open utg is it not? you didn’t give a reason so why are you opening here? was the table playing tight? or is this standard for you?
Merfinis
Yes, I would shove, simply because our hand is just too strong and our effective stack is shallow, not to mention we do have the best hand very often.
Merfinis
I don’t think there is a good reason for river bluff, the board texture doesn’t change – if he was calling us on flop/turn it’s very unlikely he will be folding to a river bet, even with the queen, because bunch of draws just missed.

Hi and thanks for your comment my friend.
I play under ‘Merfinis’ at Pokerstars.com & under ‘Alcheminis’ at PokerStars.fr, these are two different platforms.
My early stages sizing all depends from the tournament I am playing and the most important factor is what opponents I’m dealing, if there is at least few weaker opponents who I know that will be not picking up on my sizing tendencies, then I might use various bet sizes.
Hud – Yellow numbers are the amount of the hands / Grey numbers – Big blinds.
22:58 – Yea, I think we could float with all that equity and position against him, pretty passive play from my side right there.
40:29 – Well I’m not opening with that hand all the time in these situations, but if I felt that players at a table are playing bit too passive and not fighting back then I don’t mind taking this spot.

Hi,
On 4:40 w/ the JJ, I really don’t get the ideia behind set mining the jacks. I would like the ideia more if it was 99-.
By limping we’re odding in the blinds, and even when we hit our set we wont get that much action on a 5 way pot this deep, and when we do it’s probably a 60/40 on flop against a big draw
I like the squeeze to like 380 here, being that if utg+1 and mp2 call we can cbet most flops and we manage to pot control and see a river most times. Also I think justifying it by I do not want to get 4bet is a little bit paranoid as I don’t think we will get 4bet here often enough against random vilains and if we do, then we can still set mine the JJ.

Hey beerzy, thanks for your comment.
Actually I do agree with your suggestion and I would do it if I could now.
