There have been countless complaints against the TSA securities at airport across the United States.  I have traveled a good amount and have never really had a problem.  Maybe that is because every time I have to get a pat down I go to the line that's inspected by the Latino woman with nice curves.  Security checks are incredibly slow, but that is something to be expected, and factored into travel time.  In fact, I don't think I have ever gotten to an airport when I was supposed to, and not made it through security in time.

The show "To Catch a Smuggler" has been airing on Nat Geo channel.  The show documents people coming into the United States carrying illegal goods.  Foreigners and US citizens bring back everything from cocaine to live animals.  Airport security officers are genuinely entertaining as they show the whole process people go through to get caught smuggling goods in.  They pick people out of the line a mile before they reach security based on visual cues that show nervousness.  For people who have ingested drugs to smuggle across, they will have pale faces, baggy eyes, and white lips from dehydration.  People who try to smuggle meats or other contraband will have a pulsing neck and heavy breathing in conversation.

I have a small problem with people complaining so much about the security checks.  I understand the whole process can be invasive, but you know that coming into the airport.  There are other ways to travel if you don't want to take a plane.  Upon purchasing an airline ticket, you are agreeing to go through a shit storm to get on the plane.  Don't be mad at TSA, be mad at the fanatical Muslims responsible for 9/11 and changing all our security precautions.

I wasn't writing this post to hold weary travelers in contempt.  I was just wondering about the timing of the show coming out with wave of hatred towards TSA staff.  Did the show come out so that people won't mind the intense security checks?  Did the show come out because we should know that TSA staff are humans to, trying to put food on their family's plate?  Maybe it was all just a coincidence and it was just another successful reality show pitched to the big wigs of T.V. agencies.  Regardless of why it is on the air, I enjoy the show, the humor the officers provide, and it gives me some peace of mind.  I don't smuggle drugs but if I did I would probably watch the show to identify security weak points.
