Last week I was a bit busy, so here comes another monster edition of “what’s new” covering the past two weeks.

Article – Advanced Poker Terminology: Range, Bluff Catcher

https://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/advanced-poker-terminology-range-bluff-catcher/

This week’s article comes from Daryl Jace, who continues with his Advanced Poker Terminology series. This time he goes over the basic but very important concepts of “range” and “bluff catcher”.

Mike “goleafsgoeh” Leah Mixed Games Overview

Part 5

In part 5, Mike Leah finishes off his mixed games overview with a live sweat of WCOOP-37, which is fixed limit Omaha H/L. Mike goes over the general strategy in starting hand selection, whereby we try to select hands that would scoop the pot, and early on he gets a nice example of that where he scoops a big pot early on with A224. As the action goes fairly quickly sometimes, Mike makes good use of the replayer to go over some concepts after the hand has played out.

Sunday Million Replay Review with BourbonFTW

Part 4

In part 4 we re-join the action four handed with “shipthefliip” holding a huge chip lead over the rest of the field, and doing a great job at taking advantage of that, and keeps applying the pressure until the others are so short that they are forced to start getting into preflop all in situations, but they manage to win those flips and so it takes ages to get down to heads up, and after a short time “shipthefliip” takes it down for nearly $183k!

Maximus Live Sweat with Rivermen123

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

TPE member turned pro James “Rivermen123” Lambert is back, this time with a live sweat of the Poker Maximus series that was held recently on the merge network, and he is deep in a few tournaments already. He is playing in a $10r 15k gtd, $109 30k gtd, and a $30 tournament with $10 rebuy and $10 add-on and $20k gtd, so there is some decent money on offer. There is an interesting spot early where James flats a 3bet with TT and flops bottom set on an AKTss board, and decides to raise the 3bet because there are lot of action killing cards on the turn. Unfortunately he runs into a few spots where the moves that he tries to make don’t work out.

In part 2, he continues with the 10r and the 30r, as well as a nightly 10r, and he wins a pretty nice pot early to be top 10 in chips as the bubble bursts. As we have come to expect, James shows us his trademark aggression, so for those that are on the tight side this would be a great video to watch.

In part 3 we come back to just the 11r, but James is 2nd in chips with 22 left, and keeps building his stack but unfortunately one badly timed bluff near the end of the video and he is short stacked

$215 Deep Run Hand History Review with Daryl “aaaaaaaa” Jace

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

My personal favourite pro Daryl Jace is back, after his very successful theory series, this time bringing us a merge major $215 tournament. As usual with Jace he plays a lot of hands in position and ranges his opponents postflop and evaluates each spot before moving on. He specifically covers some cool spots where turn and river cards change our relative hand strength due to the opponents range.

He also gets into the topic of ideal bluff hands which he has touched upon in previous series and talks about why if we are going to have a bluff range, we should be using some air hands preferentially over others.

“mcgcanwin2” posts an extremely interesting hand in what initially looks like a standard spot, but is actually more complex than that

“m@ddm@n” also posts an interesting hand where he turns trips and checks back to induce, and then finds himself in a really weird spot on the river.

“gutbuster200” posts a really nice thread looking for some other low stakes players to talk hands with. If that sounds like you, check out this thread and get in touch

It was a week ago now, but I think we have our first ever WSOPC winner! Trevor Deeter (AKA Hammer) managed to win a ring in Southern Indiana, taking down a $365 Event for $11k. TPE pro “MovesLikeDarvin” had a great run, finishing 2nd in the True poker 50k gtd for $6.7k! “turbulence” is back at it again, this time taking 8th in a $500 pro bounty for $2800, 2nd in a $215 deepstack for $2250, 1st in a $30r for $1700, 3rd in a $215 deepstack for $1500 as well as a few other final tables, talk about a nice little run!

I also decided to have a look at the #TPEdge hashtag on twitter to see how everyone has been going, and @DannyN13 had a great run to finish 7th in the Bigger $55 for 6k, @geno127 shipped the Merge Sunday $30 deepstack for $2300, @akw144 shipped a Stars $3 5k gtd for $1145 among a bunch of other scores!

So if you find it too hard to get to the forums whilst you are grinding, make sure you put the hashtag #TPEdge in your tweets so people can follow the action!

If you would like your name to be included, make sure you post in either the sweat or BBV threads, or tweet at me!
