hey marc great vid. i had a question for you. I play a lot of mtts where i start out with 1500 in chips. As opposed to a deepstack or superstack tourney, how should i adjust? if at all…. i was specifically curious as to what you would do in early stages with pckt 7’s in early pos with around 15-20 bbs unopened? I think its a open shove, but not certain because of the small amount of chips i stand to win if i get “folds”. Same question with hands like kj in mid-late pos with same stack and blinds? should i be shoving these or should i be playing tighter even though im under or around 20 bigs, just because everyone is so short so early?

In mtts with 1500 I would just play nittier than usual until you hit the antes. With 15 bbs pre ante and utg, i would open fold 77, with antes and 15-18bbs i stuff. I think with 19-20 it is a really close spot. I lean toward shoving, but i have a feeling that may be bad from ep. This is a really good question and a really tough spot. With antes and 15-18 bbs and kj in LP, I am fist pump shoving! Pre ante, i dont hate min raise folding at all. However, all these ? are completely player based and could be adjusted based on stack sizes. GLGLGL

i may be wrong, but at around 28-29 minute period, i think you should be folding the a8s on the flop when he bets out. chances are he hit the flop hard(two pair or pair with straight draw). You had backdoor flush, but that means you have to hit runner-runner. If you do hit the gutshot then your’re most likely chopping. There were a few other spots where “I” might have played it differently, but don’t have strong feelings about those(they could have gone either way). I am looking forward to your vids, because, like you, i am learning from bigdog(through his vids). I even notice that he has switched his game up a little from the earlier vids til now. Times are always changing. I play a lot on Bodog(now Bovada ha), and a little on lock. On bodog they now have anonymous tables only (no screen names). I find it is probably most profitable to play a standard game, since i cant have notes. I can only pay attention to what is going on at the table, but i am multi-tabling most of the time, so it is hard to keep track (especially with Numbers for names). I like to have a standard way of play and then adjust to the stack-sizes and positions. I have been in a bit of a downswing, but watching these videos and knowing that i am playing the same as the pros, helps me keep going. Thanks for the insight Marc. Keep shippin

Just watching the vid, and at the 18 min mark when you play the jj on the qq2 board…if you bet 1900ish on the turn it sets you up perfectly for a river shove which should be your goal 100% of the time in spots like that.

Hi dude, liking the series. I have a question for you indirectly related to the vid series. You mention here as you have mentioned in previous vids about getting coaching from “Big Dog”. I was wondering whether the content of the 1 on 1 coaching sessions is pretty much the same as the advise from Big Dogs vids. I’m not trying to catch anyone out or be sneaky or anything I’m just curious dude.

He open limped the B and had limped a bunch of hands so assuming he smashed that flop is far from what i was thinking. Putting this guy on a “range” is nearly impossible. Many times when you get an opponent that is open limping in pos, there strat it to bet any flop when it is checked to them. Im not just floating here to peel my gutshot or backdoor flush, i think ace high can be a good a decent amount of the time. These are new spots to me, but there are several turn cards (like the q) where i feel i can steal the pot when he actually has a hand. AS stated in the vid, my over bet is really bad on the river, but i think folding is simply giving the limper way too much credit on the flop. I respect your opinion and appreciate the good feedback. Remember, im in the process of learning mtts too so its good to discuss strat. I agree, that folding is usually the best option here, but we all need to adjust to opponents tendencies. Yeh, you are right and this is one of the new “dynamics” of mtts that I am not used to yet. Bet sizing to set up river/turn shoves. HOwever, i will say that i think my sizing on the turn will cause flush draws to snap call where a bigger bet, like 1900, may cause that draw to just fold. Also, all of his Q holding are going to get it in anyways so smaller sizing allows the FD and smaller pocket pairs to continue. On other boards, i 100% agree that i need to see that flop/ turn sizing all will lead to shoves on later streets. However, on this particular board texture, I actually feel like my sizing may have given me more value.

Great ? and im not really sure what the answer is. I actually feel the video where i joined Casey was one of the better tools forme to get better. However, i simply would be lying if I didnt think his 1-1 coaching was the best tool yet. Just being able to ask him different questions about different situations allowed me to change my game for the better. Plus, having him look over some of my HH in depth has been amazing. The times we have reviewed my hand histories, he has had some harsh criticism which has made me a stronger player.
