Overall, November proved to be a pretty successful month for me. I'm recapping it now because, due to my schedule for the rest of the month, I think I am done playing until December.
Cash Games
NL Games: ($190) over 2500 hands at 50 NL and 100 NL
I was up for quite a while and then had one bad session where I played my C+ game and ran into the top of people's value ranges a lot.
PLO Games: $550 over 4000 hands at 50 PLO and 100 PLO
I'm still a PLO fish. I don't mind saying it. I am probably not 3 betting pre-flop or bluffing enough, but I am a very good hand reader and so I can compensate at micro stakes and small stakes by picking off bluffs and playing my hands for max value when I make big hands.
Tournaments
I'll finish November with a 15% ROI. Not bad, especially when I consider that I bricked a big Sunday in which I played the 100k, two $30 rebuys, and some other mid-stakes games. I also continue to run horrendously poor in Super Turbo SNG's so I anticipate a large swing at some point because my push/fold game is very strong.
Bankroll
It's hovering at a shade over $4100 which means I'm not rolled properly for 100 NL and 100 PLO. I'll probably drop in volume there and practice good table selection – aka I will bum hunt. There is no shame in bum hunting, by the way. Poker is a game where making money is the goal, not playing the best in the world. To think otherwise is foolish and is letting your ego get the best of you.
December Goals
Play less big buy-in mtt's on my current bankroll. I played too many high variance games in November. If I remove games I knew I should not have played I probably had closer to a 40% ROI this month. Very disappointing to realize this and so I'm making sure I don't repeat this mistake next month.
Play more SNG's – pretty self-explanatory. I'm good at them, but I don't put in enough volume to see this. Super Turbos have a lot of variance and you can't play a couple here and there and expect much.
Study more. I have a lot of cash game videos in queue to be watched so I plan on doing this between now and the next time I play. Preflop MTT play eventually becomes very easy – knowing how to play post-flop better than the other regs is where you will see a big change in your expected value. And trust me, there are a lot of regs who suck at post-flop play *cough*tedSTRETCHED*cough*
That's about it for now. The next post I write will probably cover actual play and theory as best as I can write about it.
