Interesting vid, really enjoying watching some deep stacked poker. at around the late 42min mark, you were flicking through hands from the k2ss to the ajo. I noticed JJ as one of your hands, did you fold this(as i’d like to see why you folded, given action) or was it maybe a mistake from the replayer not showing you played it. No big deal just curious. Keep up the good work and congrats!

Hey mstark87, I found the JJ hand you are talking about in the video but unfort I do not remember the hand and just gave up looking for it in my hand history….My chip stack does not change so I def fold preflop; there obv must have been some significant action before it got to me..It’s possible it just went raise, re-raise and I decided not to get involved; either that or raise, 3bet, 4bet….I do not fold JJ very often preflop that’s for sure!
mstark87
makes sense, thanks for response and GL

I figured out a way to find the hand, it went ep raise and 3bet so I guess I decided just to get out of the way instead of playing a big multi way pot there…If I had flatted, ep raiser could have still squeezed and if I 4 bet, I could be getting 70bb’s in pre with JJ, was an awkward spot I decided to pass on…again 30 min blinds/super deep structure allows you to pass on some marginal spots.

Yes no need to gamble there, that early in a tournament like that. Figured something like that happened. thanks again

Hey Mike,
Great run here. I railed you down from 25 players or so and was very happy for you and loved that 2 ball and am guessing A2 is one of your favourites now…..
I noticed at around the 18 minute mark (AK suited KQ10104) and in the previous video that you counted their stacks as a function of your min raise. You said he had 65 big blinds when he had twice that. Am I missing some deep 3rd level thinking that you are calling “big blinds” due to your raise?
All the best in the future.

Hey Mike,
Great Video and congrats on your epic run in the Main. I really enjoy your commentary and your thought process. Please keep them up. After this series, would love to see some more low to mid stakes sweats too. Your first series was also awesome which you final table the $22 early ante tourney. Thanks again.

Hey Mike, great hand with the ak call down. I was just wondering how difficult it was in real time, did you have to tank for a while or not and did you call expecting to chop or how confident were you that you were good.
Thanks
goleafsgoeh
Hey judical, I prob just miscalculated; no deep level thinking that I can remember lol
goleafsgoeh
Can you remind me of the hand, not coming to me at the moment…Oh actually was it when I got 3bet by QT?
I’ll give more details once I’m certain of the hand you are referring too.
goleafsgoeh
And no still do not like A2 lol but that was a great Duuuuece 🙂

Sorry mate, i should of been more specific. Yes it was the 3bt when villain had q10.

Excellent video. FYI your nemesis 2 to the left was Asiantracker, an asian guy who ran track in school. He is a good SNG player who plays high stakes and used to make videos for sitngogrinders.com.
goleafsgoeh
Yeah I’ve played with him many times before, lol I’ve only pronounced his name wrong 1000 times over the years…thanks
goleafsgoeh
My read from the beginning of the hand was that it was a light 3bet; so the way the board ran out I was pretty confident I was good. I didn’t tank for long, I’m sure I took a little time to rethink the situation and ranges but I didn’t feel he would be value betting/bluffing a chop on the river as he would have finally picked up showdown value and most likely would have checked behind…I felt I was either winning or losing and decent enough chance I was winning that made it a fairly easy river call this hand.

Great vid again Mike.
Great call with AK to the bluff of QT. Do you cringe and grimace like I do when I make such calls?
badabing78
love your vids, great explanation of your thought process and easy to understand. its great to have you here on tpe!!!
goleafsgoeh
Thanks Don, Yea I guess I prob have a weird look on my face as I hit the call button and wait to see which way the chips go….
goleafsgoeh
thanks, great to hear

Hi there,
I have noticed that you mini raised all day long except when you were blind versus blind. On the small blind, you always opened 2.5 bbs. Any specific reason?
PS: the first video from this series was awesome. This one is superb !!!!

Mike,
Great video series.
I understand your strategy of trying to controll the pot, especially oop. But I feel like you are consistantly giving yourself only one way to win the pot. By having the best hand. Dont you feel as if you are leaving too much money on the table by never 3 or 4 betting and never c betting or check raising post flop and check folding so often when you miss? Are you doing this because you are super deep and you feel like you have a nice edge on the field? I havent watched the later video’s in the series, so Your stratagy may change.
Also intersting how different yours and BigDog’s styles are but that you both have great results! Looking foward to your response

Hey Mike, Great videos and commentary. These are older videos. Has much changed in playing styles and strategies?
