Sometimes it amazes me how much I can learn and then stop paying attention too. If you have been reading I have been struggling some is picking back up my NLHE game from pre-BF, while my PLO game is taking off. I have been confused and flustered trying to figure out what the hell was going on. I started to look and think about what is going on, and I was starting to realize what I was doing. I seemed to forget the basic tenets of the game and had completely gotten away from solid decision making and extracting information properly and decided that if I just play whatever hands I wanted to from anywhere on the table and just beat people into submission. Poor choice. Very poor choice. So that being said, back to basics on my end. I have been reviewing and getting more comfortable with understanding the failures in my game so that is a great deal. So here is what I have found thus far:
1. Position dominates everything. Can't play crap from early, and defending wide from the Blinds can get painful if you don't carefully pick the opponents you are going to do this against and folding is a pretty good option.
2. Chips are tools and weapons at the same time, combine that with information you become a powerful force. What do I mean here? Position is what gives you information about where you are in a hand and tells you a lot about other players holdings, when it gets ambiguous your chips can be used to clear things up. The other side of that is you can pound the weak players with your weapons when they make bad decisions.
Okay so nothing revolutionary there and most likely nothing that you haven't noticed already. I know, it wasn't anything I didn't know, I just seemed to forget, or let my ego get away of utilizing what I knew. So ego back in check, or so I hope. I'm going to continue doing some research to make sure there isn't anything glaring lurking around. I'm looking forward to getting back to winning and playing solidly. Can't wait. Hoping for victory and looking forward to a little live action next week where I don't hemmorage and fight for even and clear some solid profits! This is the Gman signing out!
