Great video BigDog! I was thinking that for next time, you could come up with a little 1 to 2 minute ‘summary’ at the end of each video, to go over some of the themes, concepts and overall guidelines that we just watched.
So basically you could say something like..
“ok guys, from what I have noticed, you really need to be folding marginal hands pre-flop in the early stages, stay nice and tight early, and play your premiums for maximum value. Raise more then your standard 3x the bb and 1 bb for every limper because in these you will often get 2 or 3 limp/callers if you don’t raise enough pre-flop with your premiums”..something like that.
Thanks for playing these – it is extremely helpful when you point out the differences in play in the lower stakes games vs all of your other videos that are at the higher buy in levels. Also, very helpful when you were letting us know what moves are made at the higher levels and why players are making them and why or why not you feel they wont work at the lower stakes and what moves you think will work at the lower stakes. Thanks again!
Yes yes bigdog, this is a spot on set of SnG vids for micro levels. Your comment about NOT making too many moves at this level, like expecting someone to fold to a shove after they called a raise on a previous street, is illustrative of exactly how good a poker player you are. I had the (mis) pleasure of watching another “pro” play these similar SnGs on another site and he got “pwned” shall I say because he truly felt that by could out thinking these players he would win. Lesson here? It is extremely important to be able to “dumb down” your game depending on the competitions as it is to be able to think about the game on a high level.
There is one other thing you also said” “You have to run good.” How true! You must win pretty much any hand resembling a coin flip to profit in these SnGs because there is almost no time to recover from the proverbial bad beat.
I haven’t even perused Part 3, but short of seeing you play AFTER tweaking bet sizing, etc., this is as good as it gets for learning how to play micro level poker.

Addendum: On the raising example, I should have written, ‘Folding to your shove after they raised….’ Sorry about that.
